The vast surroundings of the Sala Silvermine spread out like an oasis among the mining pits, piles of rock and about 50 historical buildings of various kinds: gorgeously green in the summer and like a fairy tale landscape covered in snow in the winter. Perfect for a picnic or a short hike in beautiful nature. The area above ground is also possible to visit outside the opening hours.
ASPENSTORP NATURE RESERVE
A walk through the Aspenstorp Nature Reserve, situated in the northern parts of the mining area, invites you to study both the flora and the historical mines - at the same time! The path leading through Aspenstorp has a stretch of around 1,5 km.
If you are particularily interested in nature this is a perfect place to spot rare moss, flowers and mushrooms in certain seasons. They flourish well here in the ground which is very rich of limestone.
